چکیده

There are a number of models for access control in ubiquitous environments that are based on trust propagation. Iterative multiplication of trust values on a path from a source entity to a target entity is one approach to trust propagation. In this paper we summarize our model for access control based on this approach. As a novel contribution, we perform experiments to determine the effectiveness of iterative multiplication for trust propagation and its utility in access control for ubiquitous environments. The data set used for the experiments is the real web of trust of Advogato.org that comprises of over 11, 000 vertices (users) and over 50, 000 directed weighted edges (trust relationships between users). Results show that a strong positive linear correlation exists between the direct trust values and the propagated trust values derived through the iterative multiplication approach.

GTrust: a group based trust model

Nowadays, the growth of virtual environments such as virtual organizations, social networks, and ubiquitous computing, has led to the adoption of trust concept. One of the methods of making trust in such environments is to use a long-term relationship with a trusted partner. The main problem of this kind of trust, which is based on personal experiences, is its limited domain. Moreover, both par...

A context-sensitive dynamic role-based access control model for pervasive computing environments

Resources and services are accessible in pervasive computing environments from anywhere and at any time. Also, due to ever-changing nature of such environments, the identity of users is unknown. However, users must be able to access the required resources based on their contexts. These and other similar complexities necessitate dynamic and context-aware access control models for such environmen...

A Semantic-Aware Ontology-Based Trust Model for Pervasive Computing Environments

Traditionally, to handle security for stand-alone computers and small networks, user authentication and access control mechanisms would be almost enough. However, considering distributed networks such as the Internet and pervasive environments, these kinds of approaches are confronted with flexibility challenges and scalability problems. This is mainly because open environments lack a central c...

A semantic-aware role-based access control model for pervasive computing environments

Access control in open and dynamic Pervasive Computing Environments (PCEs) is a very complex mechanism and encompasses various new requirements. In fact, in such environments, context information should be used in access control decision process; however, it is not applicable to gather all context information completely and accurately all the time. Thus, a suitable access control model for PCEs...

A Trust-Based Access Control Model for Pervasive Computing Applications

With the rapid growth in wireless networks and sensor and mobile devices, we are moving towards an era of pervasive computing. Access control is challenging in these environments. In this work, we propose a trust based approach for access control for pervasive computing systems. Our previously proposed belief based trust model is used to evaluate the trustworthiness of users. Fine-grained acces...
